Interns from Outside Institutions Policy

Interns are paid employees of Ensign College who meet the stipulations outlined below.  An intern is an employee that must:

  1. Be currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student at an institution other than Ensign College
  2. Never work more than 20 hours per week
  3. Only be employed for a maximum of 24 months total 
  4. Be paid at a rate which does not exceed $15.00 per hour
  5. Be paid from the same account as student employees

Interns are intended to serve as a supplement to student employees, not as a replacement.  Ideally, an intern’s academic major aligns with the nature of the work assigned.  To safeguard against the overuse of interns, all intern positions must be approved by the President's Executive Council before an offer of employment is extended.
