Exceptions
Exceptions to this policy are possible when it can be shown that the exception would be in the best interest of the college. For example, when it is clear that hiring or contracting with the best candidate available for the position would otherwise be a violation of this policy, an exception is possible if the following provisions are met:
- A request for an exception to this policy is made in writing, addressed to the Ensign College Human Resources office, explicitly stating the relationship of the affected individuals and the reasons for requesting the exception, and is reviewed by the President’s Executive Council.
- Actions that could cause management concerns about preferential treatment related to issues including, but not limited to, hiring, promoting, adjusting salary or pay rates, assigning benefits, assigning duties or working schedules, allocating equipment or facilities, evaluating performance, or handling discipline and termination, are reviewed and approved by the next higher authority above the near relative supervisor of the affected employee or contractor.
Work reassignments of existing employees or contractors to other units or positions that would result in a violation of this policy must also be reviewed and conform to the provisions of this policy prior to the reassignment.
