External Organizations Campus Use Procedure

College space and facilities should be used primarily for college purposes. If the organization and the use of facilities does not assist the college in fulfilling its mission, benefit its students or employees, or have a business purpose beneficial to the college, the request should be denied.

Organizations that are for-profit or requesting use of the facilities for a money-making purpose will be denied. Similarly, organizations that are external to the college and have no connection to the college will likely be denied. Speakers and external groups using the facilities, though not affiliated with the college or Church, could still reflect negatively on the college, Church Educational System, or the Church. As a result, speakers and use of space and campus facilities by external organizations should be vetted first by the vice president of student and college Services. Final approval of the college president is required prior to advertising of an event or the use of college space or facilities. In addition, organizations external to the college seeking to use campus space or facilities with no connection to the college mission or a college employee must also receive additional approval from the Church Commissioner’s Office. The college president or the vice president of student and college services should facilitate this request.

If a Church organization such as a ward, stake, mission, or area requests use of the facilities for a church activity or event , such as for a youth or young single adult conference, approval should be given as long it doesn’t place an undue burden on college activities or business, including classroom instruction and extra curricular activities. Similarly, these requests should be vetted by the vice president of student and college services and final approval given by the college president prior to advertising of an event or use of college space or facilities.
